A LITTLE INSPIRATION: How To Find True Happiness
Good morning everyone. I hope we have all woken up on the right side of the bed this morning and are ready to conquer the day. If not, well, better luck tomorrow. I’m going to talk about happiness today. Now, I know happiness is a touchy subject, to say the least. We all want to be happy, but what happens when we’re just not. Where to go to search for true happiness? Some will look for material items to bring them joy…maybe a new outfit to lift the spirits. But really does that ever work? I guarantee, the novelty will wear off and then you are right back to how you felt… and a lot poorer.
So, it’s time we start looking at ourselves to make sure that we feel content on the inside before we start searching anywhere else. This quote by Arthur Schopenhauer puts it all into perspective.
“It is difficult to find happiness within oneself, but it is impossible to find it anywhere else” – Arthur Schopenhauer
We need to stop expecting others to make us happy and look to ourselves. True happiness is in our core. When we feel content and at peace, this is true happiness. So, with that in mind, work on yourself, treasure yourself and make time each day to do the things that make you feel good, not your partner or parents, but you.
In the book “The Inner Gym” by Light Watkins he talks about the Happiness Scale. Basically, he asks people where they rank their happiness on a scale of zero to ten; zero being severely depressed and ten being the happiest they could ever be. So, I ask you to look at your life and give your happiness a number on the scale. Then once your number has been written down ask yourself what would it take to get it to a 10. To be your true happiest self? And then you know what? go and do it.
Fun Fact: Smile even when you might not feel like smiling as it’s been proven that the simple act of smiling can actually make you feel happy. So get smiling! I’ll leave you with that in mind and a few pictures and quotes that make me feel happy and that will hopefully also put a smile on your face.
